The 5 Jackets You Should Have In Your Closet For Fall

Fall is in the air and jackets are a must in Chicago, especially because the weather is so unpredictable at times. They are perfect for layering over cardigans, sweaters, or tees. This year I wanted to shop smarter, and make sure my basics were covered before I started buying trendy pieces. Jackets will not only keep you warm but they’ll play a big part of all your looks when it starts to get chilly. Plus these jackets are staples in my closet and they never go out of style, which means you’ll be investing in a piece you can wear time and time again.

Here are 5 fall jackets you’ll want to have in your closet:

Utility Jacket
A utility jacket aka my “easy weekender jacket” is perfect for fall! I’ve been wearing this jacket non-stop since I bought it for my Mexico City trip. This jacket will take you from the office to lunch with your gals, simply switch out your accessories and shoes. You can find them in a ton of colors and when I saw this dark orange utility jacket I had to have it!

Leather or Suede Jacket
A classic black or brown jacket is a must in EVERYONE’S closet. You can’t really go wrong with either. This is my go-to piece on the weekends, and I love layering it with an oversized scarf. I want to add a burgundy suede jacket this fall because it’s an easy way to add a pop of color to your outfit. BlankNYC makes amazing jackets and the quality is great.

Trench Coat
This is a wardrobe staple that never goes out of style. It can instantly elevate an outfit, for instance, one of my favorite outfits is black leggings, white tee, baseball cap, and finish off your look with a trench coat.

I love the length of these jackets and that they can be dressed up or down. I found a similar duster to the one picture above and it’s under $25!

Denim Jacket
It’s a great way to contrast other basic pieces like black jeans and a t-shirt. It works with nearly anything you put it with. If you want to make it your own add pins or go with an embroidered style.

Would you add a different jacket to this list?

Thanks for stopping by, I love you guys!

XO, B!
