Basics We All Need: #2 Dark Wash Jeans

One thing we can all agree on is that we all have that pair of jeans that look so good on you that you can’t help but to reach into your closet every time and wear them anywhere. Of course, there is always a new “must-have” jean style, and jean shopping can be overwhelming but a pair of dark jeans is appropriate for work, dinner, or a formal event. For me dark wash jeans are a basic we all need in our closet because they are versatile, can work for day or night, and can be paired with new trendy pieces to give them a fresh look.

Forget about the brands and find a pair that fit you well and make you look and feel amazing. My go-to is a dark wash skinny jean from Express, when done right, anyone can wear this style of jeans and they work well with pumps, flats, boots, wedges and the list goes on. Keep scrolling for tips on how to find the best jeans for your shape.

Apple-shaped: mid-waist is a good choice, it prevents muffin top and conceals your belly. Dark wash would be ideal they are smooth and sleek and creates a slimming effect.

  2. Express Mid-rise Jeans

Slim/Boyish shape: high-wasted jeans are a great because they give you the illusion of curves and you can play with pockets and embellishments.

  1. Citizens of Humanity Skinny Fit
  2. Madewell High-Rise Skinny Jeans

Petite: skinny jeans will give you a long and lean look, make sure they hit at the ankle, make sure they are snug. Jeans give a bit and you want to avoid anything baggy because it can cause you to look shapeless.
