Hey guys! I still can’t believe we’re in June and it’s finally starting to feel like summer in Chicago. That means we will be spending more time outside in the sun enjoying the weather and taking care of our skin is super important. I know maintaining healthy skin can be a pain. We all have those nights when we don’t want to get off the couch to wash our face. Your skin is something you have to see for the rest of your life, so make sure to take care of it. In your 30s your skin reflects all the poor choices you made in our 20’s. I personally love to give my skin a break from makeup sometimes during the summer to give it a chance to breath. Today I am sharing my skin care routine that helps me feel comfortable enought to leave the house without makeup, blemish free (most of the time), and healthy!
It’s important to wash your face because as the day goes on, your makeup residue, dirt, oil builds up and this can lead to clogged pores aka breakouts! Not washing your face at night can lead to large pores and cause your skin to feel rough and uneven. Your skin repairs itself at night and clean skin can absorb skincare products better.
It’s one of the most important parts of taking care of your skin at home. It helps maintain healthy glowing skin, prevents blemishes, and removes dead skin cells. It helps increase the skins ability to absorb your serum and moisturizer making sure you get your money’s worth.
You apply this to your skin after cleansing but before moisturizing. What is a serum you ask? It’s a lightweight moisturizer that penetrates deeper to deliver all the nutrients to your skin. Eyebrows alone have the power to transform a face. Good brows will allow you to get away with little-to-no makeup, gives you an instant eye lift, and fuller brows promote a more natural and youthful look. The general rule is to stay within one to two shade ranges of your hair color.
Your lips need some love too. I like to go with a pink for some color and keep it neutral and natural.
Using a mask 1-2 times a week will leave your face looking plump, hydrated, and dewy. Start by taking a look at your skin and determine what it needs.
