6 Tips To Stay Healthy & On Track During The Holidays

Tis the season to be jolly— neglect our health and overindulge. We all know that food is a major theme of the holidays. Everywhere you look there are cookies, brownies, cakes, and lets not forget all the Christmas parties! It’s completely okay to indulge but this year I’m going to try and follow the 90-10 rule. Eat healthy 90% of the time and enjoy a less healthy meal or treat 10% of the time. Don’t feel like you need to eat perfectly and spend hours at the gym during the holidays try to find a balance. Strive to be consistent while still enjoying the time of year. It’s hard to stay healthy during the holiday season but here are 7-tips to help you stay on track.

  1. Keep Healthy Snacks Available

I always carry a healthy snack in my purse when I’m running around, preparing for the holidays, or tackling some Christmas shopping. This way I avoid getting “hangry” and running into Starbucks and getting a Cake Pop or a Coffee Cake. I love NUT-trion Antioxidant bag it’s been my on-the-go snack lately. 2. Eat More Fruit

Whenever I tell my boyfriend I’m craving something sweet he’ll tell me to have a banana, berries, an orange or whatever I have at the time.

3.Sleep More

You’ll regain your energy and help your body stay healthy during this busy time. They say, “a minimum of seven hours of sleep per night.” I know it’s difficult if you have a baby, sick family member, or not enough hours in the day to get things done. Try to make it a priority to avoid getting sick.

4. Exercise

Add it in to your calendar and throw ALL your excuses to skip the gym out the window. Just do it! All you need is 30 minutes of activity a day, plus, it’s better than nothing. Pull out your yoga mat and have yoga sesh in your living room or go for a short walk on the treadmill. Staying active will keep your immune system up, you’ll look and feel great, and it’ll help cancel out all those holiday drinks.

5. Drink Plenty Of Water

Parties every weekend and that means the alcohol will be flowing; be sure to have a large glass of water between alcoholic beverages. It’ll also help keep you feeling full longer so you’re not tempted to reach for the sweets.

6. Unwind

Find some time to sit on the couch, with a glass of wine or a cup of tea, and relax. Be  it a massage, steam room session or sauna time at the gym. Put your phone down, disconnect from all social media, and enjoy some quite time.

This time of year should be about spending time with family and friends. Time flies so make sure to tell those that you care about how much you love them, what they mean to you, and ENJOY THAT COOKIE!
