Want to make getting dressed in the morning significantly easier? How many times have you found yourself standing in front of your closet full of clothes trying to find something to wear for what seems like an hour. For many of us the clothes in our closet doesn’t match our lifestyle. When building your wardrobe you want to pick pieces that you feel great in, are practical yet stylish, and make your go-to outfit easy to transition from day to night. Creating a uniform or finding your personal style doesn’t mean you will wear the same thing everyday, rather each look follows a similar theme.Know what’s flattering on you-and what’s not is very important. Just because something is “trending” doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy it, instead find pieces that are flattering and you feel amazing wearing it. We all have a signature item or items we wear on repeat. I personally could wear a white t-shirts everyday because I can dress them up or down, be it under a blazer paired with a sexy strappy shoe or with cutoff shorts and sneakers. So how exactly do you find your personal style?
Style personality: classic, feminine, boho chic, edgy?
Body shape: what flatters your silhouette? Do you have a skinny waist, long legs, toned arms, or a great ass?
Your color palette: what colors do you gravitate towards? Do you have a lot of patterns? Does your closet consist of 80% black pieces? Btw, black is a color in my eyes!
What do you already own: having an eye for your favorite styles means that new pieces will go with what you already own. Making it easier to shop and mix the old with the new.
Which items do you wear the most: This will make shopping and getting ready in the morning so much easier. I have tons of oversized sweaters but in different colors and necklines, some are casual while others are a bit dresser. This makes it easy getting ready because I feel comfortable and confident pairing them with a great pair of jeans and ankle booties.
Whatever your budget may be, invest in higher quality version of the pieces you wear the most. Investing in high quality, classic pieces will save you money in the long run. I tend to go for lots of oversized sweaters, off-the-shoulder tops, denim, leather jackets, distressed skinny jeans, t-shirts, booties, and great handbag. I can put together tons of outfits with just these few pieces, I can add a scarf, statement necklace, or a belt to switch it up. It’s simple, wear what flatters your shape, looks good on you, fits your lifestyle, and reflects your personal style.
