5 Tips To Help You Stay on Track With Your Fitness Journey

New year, new you right?! Yup, that’s how many of us start the new year- getting fit, eating right, saying goodbye to sweets.

1.     Be Realistic-

Set small goals that will help you get to the huge goal. For instance, instead of removing dairy, bread, alcohol, sweets, red meat, etc. all at once from your diet. Start by removing one food group each week. When you reach each step reward yourself with a little something for getting to that next step. Map out your goal, if you want to lose weight, write down the pounds you want to shed, then set a time frame.

2.     Purge your pantry and fridge

If your new years goal is to cut back on sweets or lose weight, don’t bring candy, junk food, ice cream, or candy into your house. Fill your fridge with veggies, lean meats, non-dairy milk, fish, etc. If you have a sweet tooth keep some dark chocolate in the house or make frozen dark chocolate PB banana bites (so yummy).

3.     Buy New Workout Gear

I say this all the time but when you look good, you feel good. A new pair of leggings or workout sneakers can also work as a motivator to get to the gym. Plus, you work harder when you are comfortable.

4.     Track your progress

There are so many apps that help track your steps, calories, activity. Recording your progress will also help motivate you and remind you to get off the couch and take that yoga, spin, or HIIT class you love.

5.     Give Yourself A Cheat Day

You have to reward yourself for all the hard work you’ve put in BUT a cheat meal doesn’t mean eat an entire pizza on a Saturday night. It means enjoying brunch with friends on a Sunday without feeling guilty.

Most importantly remember that change takes time. Don’t be so hard on yourself, be proud of your small changes.
