Home Styling 101: A Beginner's Guide On How To Style A Bar Cart or Cabinet
Sweater / Jeans / Wine Glass
Hey guys! I just want to start by saying I’ve missed you guys so much! I had forgotten how therapeutic it is to write and how much I love blogging. A lot has changed this year including getting a new apartment with my future hubby! I’ve been busy decorating our place; making sure it feels cozy and inviting. Thanks to Covid we will be spending more time at home, having friends over, and putting our bar to use!
I love entertaining! It’s always nice to have family and friends over to hang out, catch up, have a few cocktails, and eat some yummy snacks. Which brings me to today’s topic, bar carts or bar cabinet!
Incorporating a bar cabinet into your home is a great way to make your family and friends feel welcome and get the party started! Your bar cart is also an opportunity to get creative and add some personality into your space. It can be vintage, sophisticated, modern, chic, bohemian, but it should always be functional and match your overall aesthetic.
STEP 1: CHOOSING A BAR CART OR BAR CABINET

First things first- you have to choose the cart itself. I must’ve looked at over 50 bar carts before we went with this gorgeous bar cabinet from Wayfair. It was really important to find something that wasn’t just pretty to look at but had plenty of storage and was sturdy. There are so many bar carts to choose from but just make sure to remember what you want to use it for because your bar cart should compliment the look of your home.
STEP 2: SELECT YOUR PREFERED DRINKS
Don’t overcrowd your bar cart with too many bottles. Choose a few of your favorite and place the rest behind the cabinet doors. You can start with Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Gin, Tequila, and Aperol. When picking out drinks and wine bottles, try to go for the pretty packaging!
STEP 3: SELECT YOUR GLASSES
Glassware is very important and the right pieces can heighten your home’s décor. When choosing your glassware think of what you’d love to showcase, what you love to drink, and the vibe you are trying to give. You can also display a beautiful decanter filled with you favorite cognac or whiskey.
STEP 4: TOOLS
If you are planning on making cocktails, your bar cart will need the right tools to get mixing. For starters, add a shaker, ice buckets, tongs, mixing spoon, juicer, bottle opener, and get ready to mix some drinks.
STEP 5: BOOKS & ARTWORK

Not only do books look good, they can help you create a delicious drink. You can use them to add height and set a vase, greenery, or to display a cluster of gold stainless steel cocktail straws (save the turtles).
STEP 6: GREENERY
Plants are a great way to add some softness and add fresh flowers to a room. Simply choose a vase in a neutral color and you can switch out greenery and floral. If you don’t want to add plants add garnishes for cocktails such as fresh lemons or oranges in a bowl.
Placement is very important when decorating and organizing your bar cart. Make sure that everything is easy to see and reach and keep it clean. Balance high and low, group items together, or divide bar cart into zones to avoid clutter. You can also pick your tallest bottle, make it your focal point, and arrange the rest around it. Personalize your bar with monogrammed glasses, fun coasters, or fun cocktail stirrers. I hope this helps when putting together your bar cart.
Thanks for stopping by! Be safe!
Xoxo, B!
