How to Get There
The nearest airport to Positano is in Naples, if you are flying in this is where you’d want to fly to. We flew in on a late flight and decided to book a private transfer. If it fits into your budget I would highly recommend you go this route because it’s the most convenient. The drive from Naples to Positano is about an hour in a half.
Your other option would be a taking a bus from Naples to Positano. It’s more affordable but you have to buy your tickets ahead of time and make sure to check the bus times when you arrive.
Where to Stay
I would highly recommend you stay somewhere near the city center because you will climb a lot of stairs in Positano. Don’t forget to pack comfortable shoes, your feet will thank you. The best places to stay in Positano sell out months in advance and, especially during peak tourist season. Book your accommodations as soon as you know your dates.
Albergo Miramare Positano
We stayed at Albergo Miramare and we highly recommend it! This stunning 4-star hotel is located in the heart of Positano, a five minute walk from the main beach and center of town. We enjoyed breakfast every morning overlooking the most beautiful view, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the employees were super sweet and helpful.
Favorite Restaurants
Da Vincenzo— One of our drivers recommended this restaurant, he told us it was one of the oldest restaurants in Positano and a local favorite. What’s no to love, it’s local cuisine and very tasty dishes!
Bucca de Bepo— The ravioli here is amazing!! Plus, it’s right by the water and you can go for a stroll after dinner or enjoy some cocktails and people watch.
Franco’s Bar— A beautiful bar with the best view in town! This place is pretty pricey (20 Euros per drink) but they are totally worth every penny. Be ready to wait in line for at least 30 minutes, they open at 5:00pm.
Chez Black — This Mediterranean restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and it was delicious!
Zass- A Michelin start restaurant inside Il Pietro Positano hotel. Very pricey but it’s perfect if you’re celebrating something special, and again the views here are amazing! Make sure to have a drink at Terrace bar.
Casa e bottega- Great place for healthy breakfast or lunch. The food and drinks were DELICIOUS and at great prices! Beautifully presented fresh ingredients with a lot of flavor.
Things to Do
Spend a Day Relaxing at the Beach
On our first day in Positano we decided to head to a beach club and relax the entire day! We loved Arienzo Beach Club, they have a water Taxi that picks you up from the city center and takes you back when you’re ready to go. They offer a variety of packages to make sure you have the best experience.
Wander Around Town
Alex and I spent time walking all over Positano. We would stop for Gelato and get lost in the tiny streets.
Take a Boat to Capri for a Day
A full-day boat tour to Capri from Positano, is the best way to experience this world-famous coastline. Most boat packages include visiting some of the famous Grotto’s, includes food & drinks, and you get some time to go for a swim.
Hike the walk of the Gods.
This hike was NOT easy but the views from the top are stunning! Make sure to head out early in the morning, wear comfortable shoes, pack some water, and don’t forget your camera.
Shop
One of my favorite things to do when I’m on vacation is roam around the little shops on the main street while walking to and from wherever I’m staying.
