To The First Man I Loved
As you all know this weekend we will be celebrating those special men in our lives, whether it’s an uncle, step dad, coach, or anyone who played that role in your life. I'm all about sharing my love for fashion, beauty, or travel but today I decided to switch it up. I want to give a shout out to the first man who ever made me feel loved, gave me my first kiss, hug, and a shoulder to cry on when a boy broke my heart for the first time, my father. My father left his birthplace of Mexico at a very young age and immigrated to the United States with a couple dollars in his pocket and a dream of a better life. My dad hustled and worked long hours in the sun and heat as a roofer, I remember my dad walking into the house dirty, tired, sweating, and doing it all over again the next day. Never did I hear him complain once, and all that hard work eventually paid off. My father is now a contractor and owner of his own business Torres Roofing ( so proud of him). I’ve been extremely lucky to have my father’s support, love, and his beautiful words and advice in the back of my mind to keep me going when I wanted to give up. Completing my Nursing degree and slowly making my dreams come true is all thanks to my parents, who always reminded their children to dream big and that with hard work and dedication anything was possible. At 9 years of age my parents bought a home, moved us out of Little Village into a quiet neighborhood where we were able to play outside and not have to worry about gunfire or having to run in the house because a fight broke out between rival gangs. As a little girl I would dream of seeing the world, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would visit all the amazing places God has allowed me to travel to, make amazing friends along the way, or own any of the beautiful things I have. Never forgetting that it was thanks to my parents and hoping one day I could return to those places with you!I wouldn’t be the woman I am today if it wasn’t for my parents but on this day I want to thank my Dad. Thank you daddy for always providing for us, loving me, reminding me of my value and worth, reminding me that I'm capable of anything, always making me feel special and protected, reminding me the importance of having my own success and independence, and the importance of good work ethic.May God continue to bless my Papa Bear with health, love, prosperity, and may God grant me the privilege of spending as much time with him as possible.TE QUIERO PADRE!
