14 Items To Help You Update Your Fall Wardrobe
Who else is excited for pumpkin spice everything, apple picking, cozy cardigans, oversized scarves, and apple cider donuts?! The last couple of days the temps have dropped in Chicago and I wanted to share some of my favorite fall essentials that help keep me warm, cozy, and chic! After all, fall is when we get to play around with layers; and this outfit is a perfect example. I paired a striped turtleneck with a quilted vest, and an oversized scarf. I like to call this my fall uniform; this outfit is perfect for church, brunch with friends, or date night with BAE. This list is all about quality pieces that will last more than one season and can be mix and matched with items you already have in your closet.
Striped Turtleneck
Stripes are a neutral when it comes to prints and can be styled with pretty much anything
Perfect layering piece! Another versatile piece that looks great for any occasion.
A playful brint will add a playful contrast to a neutral outfit or stick with a solid color.
My go-to is Paige or Joe jeans because I know the fit works for my body and they look good with an outfit.
If I could I would live in leggings, you can layer pretty much anything over them and you don't have to worry about looking bulky. Just remember opaque black!
Sweaters are great for layering and leave the jacket at home by going with a chunky sweater.
They come in a number of colors, they keep your feet dry on rainy days, and add socks when it starts to get colder out (I'm not ready).
When in doubt start with black. You will wear these with skirts, jeans, dresses, etc.
Wear it open with a shirt underneath, under a sweater (layers), or tied over a dress. It's one of the most versatile pieces in my closet!
The foundation to any wardrobe- start with a slim fit in white, black, and or gray. This is one of the items you should splurge on.
A classic handbag that comes in a variety of colors and is under $150!
It can be worn over pretty much anything, go with a neutral or have fun with color and stripes.
Leather Jacket (Under $100)
Bring out your favorite leather jacket, a fresh take is the suede moto. You can't go wrong with a white tee, skinny jeans, and a suede moto.
Versatile, comfortable, and stylish. Pair them with a pencil skirt like I did here, athliesure wear, or denim.
You don’t have to reinvent your entire closet. This outfit is a perfect example; I’ve worn these pieces in previous posts with the exception of the quilted vest.
A quilted vest one of my fall essentials because it’s a classic and it will never go out of style. It’s important to keep your lifestyle in mind, for example, don’t spend money on a new pair of heels when five days out of the week you’re in flats. Instead splurge on a nice pair of flats or sneakers, you’ll get more bank for your buck. All these items can be mixed and matched with at least three different other pieces I have in my closet.
Thanks for stopping by, I love you guys!! Happy shopping!!
