5 Tips to Help You Stay Calm & Reduce Stress During The Holiday Season
Ready or not the holidays are in full swing. Yes, I’m already listening to Christmas music and I don’t care if you judge me, lol. It’s the happiest time of the year- but for many it can also be a stressful time. The holidays mean gatherings with family and friends, spending money on gifts, huge meals, sweets galore (so excited), work parties, and all those things can leave you with zero energy and spending lots of money. It’s important to take a deep breath and not lose sight of what’s really important. Here are 5 tips to help you stay stress free during the holidays:
Create A List
This will help you stay organized and will help reduce stress levels. A list is a great way to stay on track, stay on budget, and you’re less likely to forget something.
Be Prepared
When it comes time to tackle your grocery list, Christmas shopping, or decorating your home make sure you’re tummy is full and that you’re wearing something comfortable. Simply bring out the leggings and tee, a small bag, snacks, good walking shoes, and of course your lists.
Take Time for Yourself
It’s important to remember to do something for YOU. Take a day to kick back, relax, and enjoy a glass of wine or tea, get a pedicure, go for a walk, or take a gym class. Don’t stop doing what you love because of the holidays, workouts boost your mood and will help burn off all the excess calories.
Keep It Simple
If you aren't in the mood to cook this year order food or cater instead of going to the store, dealing with crowds, and slaving away in the kitchen. Take the time to enjoy family or take 30 min to unwind. There will be plenty of holiday parties and activities but learn to say no, these activities cost money (drinks, new dress, gas, uber, etc) and it can quickly add up.
Create a Budget
It's a good way to keep track of your spending and avoid the stress of having to pay off your credit cards after the holidays are over. Spending money during this time may be unavoidable, but having a budget will help reduce the stress you feel during the holidays. Also, no need to buy new decorations each year, save your money and simply recycle what you already have.
